RELIGION
Over 60 percentage of total population is practising Buddhist Lamaism, 10 percentage is Christians, 5 percentage is shamanists, and 5 percentage is Muslims, rest are atheist. There is no discrimination on the religion, however, Mongolians do not like, if someone speaks out their trusted religion a lot.
The main religion of the country is Lamaism Buddhism, which was introduced into Mongolia in the XVI century. During the communist period, the religion was suppressed, almost all of the 770 monasteries destroyed, while most of the clergy was physically annihilated. Since l990 Buddhism is reviving. Other religions are also being adopted. Most of indigenous people believe in Buddhism, people in the north part of Mongolia prefer the shamanism, but most of Christians are living in Ulaanbaatar.
